This may sound like a strange question, but it’s one I’m often asked. Let’s get into it, then.
If you’re writing for your own small business, I believe it’s vital to show yourself. YOU are what distinguishes your business from your competitors. It’s YOU your customers need to believe in before they buy. YOU are the entity people are buying.
When you think about it, your personality is probably the most important factor in your ability to succeed in business.
The people who want your products or services will have an image in their minds of the kind of person they expect to be behind the business. For example, for a medical practice, they would expect someone qualified, experienced, calm and approachable. For a designer, they’re likely to picture someone innovative, colourful, and bubbly.
It’s your talent, interest and personality which has drawn you to your industry so you don’t have to pretend to be something you’re not. Let yourself shine.
Next time you sit down to create your content, just let it flow. Don’t overthink it. Don’t edit as you write. Write as though you are speaking directly to your favourite customer.
As the experts say. you are your brand. Allow your brand voice to show.
Should you show your personality in your writing? Yes!
