Some days are just creative duds, aren’t they?  Your imagination is muffled and suffocated by the big fluffy pillow of life.  Tempting as it may be to curl up and sleep on that same fluffy pillow, you’ll find that after a while you start hearing distant bumps and yelps as your brain reminds you that it’s there.

Drats.  There goes the sleep you’d wished for.

Trying to come up with interesting blog posts while your brain is muffled can be a bit tricky.  OK, it can be a lot tricky.  I’ve written some flaming failures in my time!

There are two things you can do about it.

1.  Work out a plan while your brain is functional.

I’m a  huge fan of planning ahead.  It saves you on days like these but it also lets you structure your posts so that they lead your readers along a logical path.  Random posts are fun but your business will benefit from a properly thought out strategy.

2.  See Chris Brogan’s list of suggestions.

I love Chris Brogan.  I’m sure it would make his day if he knew that.  Anyway, he’s written a great post called “20 Blog Topics to Get You Unstuck” and it’s very simple but very clever.  For ecample, one of his suggestions is to answer this question : What challenges are my potential customers facing. Do I have any advice for them?  There is some good fodder there.  He also has some fill-in-the-blanks that will get your brain going, too.

If you’ve woken up this morning with a mind that feels like marshmallow, don’t despair.  Go visit Chris and then while you’re inspired, write down a blog plan for the next few weeks.  Go on.  You can do it.
